The larger issue begins after Webb. The Giants played a split doubleheader Saturday, used Monday’s scheduled off-day for a makeup game in Atlanta and then faced an overnight trip to Pittsburgh, with their final Monday relief usage unresolved at the research cutoff.
That uncertainty sits on top of recent bullpen turnover and an unsettled high-leverage order. San Francisco has already moved several pitchers through the roster to cover innings, and recent late collapses have shown how quickly a controlled game can slip away.
