Quevedo survived; Podoroska took control

Depth can take the forehand away
Quevedo is dangerous whenever she steps inside the baseline and finds the next forehand. Podoroska's route is to push her back, work over the backhand and make every attacking ball slightly less comfortable than it first appears.
The older player still carries risk on serve after nine double faults in each of her last two matches. Even so, her ranking of 317 understates the level of this comeback, while the lighter semifinal leaves her well placed to turn return pressure into a first WTA singles title.
